Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Capital Project Manager within the Education and Skills Service. The role is permanent, full-time, and based at County Hall, Morpeth. As Capital Project Manager, you will support the Capital Programme Manager and lead on all aspects of project development and delivery across a wide variety of capital projects.
Role of the Job
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Managing a team of support/administration staff, external Technical Advisors, and Contractors with responsibility for project budgets up to £10m.
2. Acting as Client Lead on various capital projects for Northumberland County Council.
3. Adopting strict project management controls: budget tracking, contract management, risk and issues management, project timelines, milestones, team coordination, communication strategies, and reporting.
4. Engaging with key stakeholders, producing detailed briefs, and managing site requirements, end-user needs, and grant conditions.
5. Overseeing projects from pre-feasibility to completion, supporting feasibility studies, and signing off projects for construction, ensuring cost packs are approved before work begins.
6. Producing reports for operational or research purposes to monitor performance.
Requirements of the Job
We are looking for someone with:
* A relevant degree and ideally a professional qualification.
* A project management or relevant vocational qualification.
* Experience in capital project delivery.
* The ability to provide client project management expertise, applying knowledge of the development cycle through RIBA Plan of Works.
* Significant experience in partnership working and stakeholder engagement, with effective communication skills.
* Evidence of successful delivery in a similar role.
* A valid UK driving licence.
