We're recruiting an Electrical Maintenance Technician to carry out fault diagnosis, maintenance, testing and installation across a wide range of electrical plant and systems. This is a hands-on role in a safety-critical, hazardous environment requiring strong technical capability, compliance with Permit to Work systems, and high standards of electrical safety. Description Key responsibilities: Diagnose and repair electrical and electromechanical faults on complex plant and equipment Install, maintain, test and overhaul electrical systems including LV power distribution, motors, transformers, switchgear and circuit protection devices Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown support Work strictly within site Permit to Work (PTW) and Safety Management System (SMS) frameworks Interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, specifications and technical manuals Ensure accurate completion and updates of 'as-built' drawings where required Identify improvement opportunities and raise modification requests to enhance plant safety and efficiency Select and use appropriate tools and equipment in line with training and procedures Maintain accountability for tools, equipment and work standards Support digital maintenance systems (e.g. CMMS) for reporting and communication Work on safety-critical systems including fire & gas detection and emergency shutdown systems Ensure correct preparation and reinstatement of work areas at all timesProfile The successful candidate: Completed a recognised electrical apprenticeship (ECITB or equivalent) or holds an HNC/D with relevant experience CompEx certification (Ex01-04) with strong understanding of hazardous area working LV Authorised with knowledge of current IET Regulations (BS7671 / Electricity at Work Regulations) Experience with LV/HV switching and isolation procedures, with HV Authorisation desirable Trained in relay protection systems and electrical protection methods Strong hands-on experience fault finding across industrial electrical systems Experience working within PTW and SMS environments Knowledge of fire & gas detection systems and emergency shutdown (ESD) systems Confident interpreting technical drawings and electrical schematics Food or process manufacturing experience advantageous Strong attention to detail with a proactive, safety-led mindsetJob Offer What's on offer: Salary from £35,000 to £45,000 Opportunity to work on complex, high-integrity electrical plant in a regulated environment Exposure to hazardous area systems and advanced electrical infrastructure Structured engineering environment with clear processes and safety systems Long-term career stability within an established and well-invested site
