Consultant Radiologist with an interest in PET-CT and NM Imaging. NHS Medical & Dental: Consultant. Contract: Permanent. Hours: Full time - 10 sessions per week. Job ref 321-MS-CON-7706291-S5.

Site: Churchill Hospital. Location: Oxford. Salary: £109,725 - £145,478 Per Annum Pro Rata. Salary period: Yearly. Closing: 23/02/2026 23:59.

We are looking for an enthusiastic radiologist to join the Nuclear Medicine/PET-CT radiologists team, working cross-site to provide high-quality imaging services to Oxfordshire. The Trust is a cancer centre with a large oncology unit, a surgical centre, a tertiary referral centre for disease and a major trauma centre. The Directorate is progressive and supports measures such as a 4-day week, home reporting, advanced practitioner radiographers and cycle-to-work schemes.


Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide imaging support for nuclear medicine/PET-CT patients and cross-sectional imaging responsibility for the Trust. The Directorate is developing extended day working on rotation and the candidate will be expected to participate in this service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will be part of the radiology team and deliver high-quality imaging, intervention and biopsy services across the Trust. Additional subspecialty interests may be accommodated/supported, e.g., in oncological imaging.


Person specification


Qualifications / Training

* FRCR or equivalent
* CCT in Radiology, or within 6 months of achieving CCT at the time of interview
* At least one year higher-level training in nuclear medicine radiology at a recognised training centre
* Full GMC registration
* Fellowship in nuclear medicine imaging
* Additional postgraduate medical qualification


Experience

* General training in Radiology to Specialist Level or equivalent
* It is expected that the applicant has reached core and higher competence in the vast majority of radiology as laid out in the RCR syllabus
* Ability to make decisions at consultant level
* Ability to report cross-sectional imaging independently


Skills and Knowledge

* Evidence of leadership skills
* Evidence of organisational skills, communication skills, and professional and personal skills to undertake effectively the role of consultant in Radiology in a major teaching hospital
* Evidence of good professional skills as required for good medical practice
* Evidence of good interpersonal and communication skills
* Evidence of previous teaching experience at various levels
* An understanding of clinical governance and experience of clinical audit
* Postgraduate teaching experience
* Knowledge of NHS organisation and modernisation agenda; evidence of management training
