Buyer – Civil Engineering Location: Perth, Scotland Summary: We are seeking to recruit an experienced Buyer to join our Civil Engineering team based in Perth. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to contribute to the successful delivery of a wide range of civil engineering projects across Scotland and Northern England. The Role Reporting to the Director of Civils, the Buyer will be responsible for the effective sourcing, negotiation, and management of suppliers. The role will support procurement activities across all stages of the project lifecycle, ensuring materials and services are secured in line with programme requirements, quality standards, and commercial objectives. Key Responsibilities · Source, negotiate, and manage suppliers across Scotland and Northern England · Develop and maintain strong and effective supply chain relationships · Participate in pre-construction activities, including design meetings and supply chain selection · Attend and contribute to pre-start meetings with internal teams and suppliers · Undertake tender analysis and provide recommendations for supplier and subcontractor awards · Prepare and issue purchase orders for materials and subcontract packages · Monitor market trends and carry out benchmarking of tender returns against current market rates · Establish and manage supply chains for project material packages · Ensure the timely and accurate processing of requisitions and procurement documentation · Monitor supplier performance and provide reports to internal stakeholders · Identify and evaluate new suppliers and alternative products to support project delivery What You Will Bring Essential · Proven experience in a Buyer or similar procurement role within the construction or civil engineering industry · Detailed knowledge of construction procurement processes, procedures, and supply chain management · Demonstrable experience of supplier negotiation and relationship management · Strong commercial awareness and analytical capability · Excellent communication and interpersonal skills · Proactive and collaborative approach to work · Proficient in Microsoft Office applications · Experience in using procurement, accounting, or estimating systems Desirable · Experience working across multiple civil engineering projects · Knowledge of supply chains within Scotland and Northern England · Experience in analysing market trends and supplier performance · Relevant qualification in procurement, construction, or a related discipline What We Offer · Competitive salary and benefits package · Opportunity to work on a diverse range of civil engineering projects · A supportive and collaborative working environment · Opportunities for professional development and career progression
