Business Development Manager – Nutraceutical Ingredients

Our client is a well-established and highly respected nutritional solutions provider, supplying high-quality nutraceutical ingredients across the world. The business serves the sport nutrition, health and wellness, food and beverage, animal nutrition and nutricosmetic sectors. It is now entering its next phase of ambitious, sustainable growth and is looking for a talented Business Development Manager to help drive that growth across the UK.
Role Overview
Reporting directly to Regional Head of Sales, this is a hands-on commercial role within a dynamic and agile team. You will be responsible for identifying, developing and converting new business opportunities, while also managing and growing selected existing customer accounts. The role offers genuine scope to influence strategy, build long-term customer partnerships and contribute meaningfully to the continued success of the business.
Key Accountabilities
* Identify and generate new business opportunities across target markets, growth areas and emerging industry trends
* Build, manage and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective customers and sales opportunities
* Manage selected existing customer accounts, ensuring orders, samples, stock and deliveries are processed efficiently
* Develop and maintain excellent customer relationships, delivering a consistently high level of service
* Conduct ongoing competitor and market analysis to inform commercial decisions
* Work closely with Commercial and Marketing teams to support the development of proposals and technical presentations
* Prepare, present and negotiate quotes and commercial proposals
* Develop a strong understanding of suppliers, customers, target markets and the wider product range
* Coordinate and support product development activities to showcase tailored solutions
* Attend industry events, exhibitions, conferences and networking meetings to raise company profile
* Demonstrate an understanding of technical product specifications and relevant legislation
People Profile
* Degree qualified in Food Science, Food Technology, Nutrition or a closely related discipline (essential)
* 1–3 years’ experience in sales, commercial or business development roles within B2B ingredients or nutraceuticals preferred
* Candidates with a background in technical roles (e.g. R&D or Quality) within a food or nutraceutical environment will also be considered
* Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
* Confident negotiator with the ability to influence stakeholders
* Customer-focused, relationship-driven and solutions orientated
* Results-focused team player, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
* Willing and able to travel for meetings and industry events
