Join Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust as a HR Business Partner and play a big role in shaping the Trust’s workforce during a significant period of organisational change. This senior role offers the opportunity to lead on people priorities, organisational development and employee relations within designated Care Groups, directly supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. Salary band 8a, initial 6 month FTC with flexible hybrid working from Truro.

Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) is the principal provider of acute and specialist care services for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, serving a resident population of 570,000 - a number that increases significantly with seasonal visitors. Job summary

Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust is navigating a significant period of change and is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to support its organisational change journey. This role will be the lead specialist for People, Employee Relations, Recruitment, Learning and Development and Organisational Development within designated Care Group(s), ensuring alignment with the Trust’s People Strategy and the objectives of the Being Brilliant programme.


The HR Business Partner will play a key role in the delivery of workforce solutions, interventions and actions, working collaboratively with Care Group leaders and across the wider Trust. The postholder will provide expert workforce planning, organisational development and employment law advice to inform business planning and people priorities.


Key responsibilities

* Lead the implementation of the Trust’s People & OD strategy within Care Group(s).
* Provide strategic workforce planning advice and support annual business planning cycles.
* Manage employee relations activity, including complex cases, ensuring legal and procedural compliance.
* Support organisational change and business transformation initiatives.
* Lead on workforce planning reviews and recruitment/retention strategies.
* Contribute to Trust-wide projects including service improvement and business transformation programmes.
* Mentorship of Assistant People Partners, supporting their professional development.


Essential criteria

* Chartered MCIPD or equivalent HR qualification, or significant equivalent experience.
* Substantial HR experience in a large, complex, unionised organisation.
* Proven experience leading the workforce aspects of major change programmes inc. planning & development of workforce strategy
* Strong knowledge of employment law and complex employee relations case management.
* Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage confidently at all levels.
* Ability to analyse workforce data and develop actionable insights.
* Experience of mentoring or leading a team
