Protocol Education are currently recruiting a PMLD Support Assistant to work within a specialist SEND school near Peterlee that supports pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties. Pupils within the setting often have complex learning needs alongside sensory and physical disabilities, requiring highly personalised support to access education and daily activities. The school provides a nurturing and well-resourced environment where pupils are supported through sensory learning approaches, specialist equipment and structured routines. As part of the classroom team, you will support pupils both individually and within small groups, helping them engage in learning and develop important life skills. Responsibilities may include: • Supporting pupils during sensory-based learning activities • Assisting with mobility support and specialist equipment • Supporting pupils with communication using visual supports, symbols or communication devices • Helping pupils participate in structured classroom activities • Providing personal care support where necessary The school is looking for candidates who are supportive, resilient and able to provide consistent and compassionate care for pupils with complex needs. Applicants should ideally have a DBS on the Update Service. Candidates who do not currently hold one will be required to apply for a DBS through Protocol Education before starting work.
