Defence Insurance Associate (2–5 PQE) – Personal Injury & Insurance Litigation
Belfast | Hybrid Working
If you’re an Insurance Litigation Solicitor with 2–5 years’ PQE, this is a great opportunity to join a growing Belfast-based defence insurance team working on a varied caseload of personal injury and complex liability claims.

The role
As a Defence Insurance Associate in Belfast, you’ll handle a broad mix of personal injury litigation matters, acting primarily for insurers and self-insured organisations.
Your responsibilities will include:

* Managing and assisting on motor, employer’s liability, public liability and disease claims
* Running your own caseload while supporting senior lawyers on more complex disputes
* Drafting pleadings, reports and detailed client advice
* Investigating claims, including liaising with policyholders and taking witness statements
* Reviewing and interpreting medical evidence and expert reports
* Attending court hearings, case reviews and pre-trial meetings
* Ensuring compliance with client SLAs, reporting standards and reserving requirements
* Maintaining accurate file management and correspondence
* Building trusted relationships with clients and key stakeholders
* Supporting business development and wider team initiatives

About you
This role would suit an Insurance Litigation/Personal Injury Solicitor who:

* Has 2–5 years’ PQE (guideline level, flexibility for the right candidate)
* Brings experience in personal injury litigation (defence experience beneficial but not essential)
* Is comfortable managing files within a fast-paced environment
* Demonstrates strong drafting and analytical skills
* Has an interest in advocacy and court work
* Understands client service delivery, including SLAs and reporting standards
* Takes a proactive, solutions-focused approach
* Communicates effectively with clients and colleagues
* Enjoys working as part of a collaborative and driven team
