 
        
        Formulation Team Leader at Eden Research Plc
Eden Research plc is a rapidly expanding company, recently invigorated by significant capital investment from new and existing shareholders. The Company provides sustainable solutions for challenges in crop protection through the development of biopesticides. These products are based on two key technology platforms: plant‑derived active ingredients with a broad range of biological activity and a patented microencapsulation technology derived from yeast extract.
As a Synthetic Chemist in the Formulation team, you will be responsible for supporting the successful delivery of key projects within the company. The role requires working independently and having well‑organised, detail‑oriented, and excellent problem‑solving skills.
Job Duties
 * Synthesising and characterising active‑loaded formulations.
 * Development of crop protection formulations following safe‑by‑design protocols.
 * Assessing physicochemical and active control release profiles.
 * Collaborating closely with teams to develop and optimise scalable synthetic routes that are amenable to the preparation of crop protection products required to support manufacturing process development.
Knowledge, experience & capabilities
 * MSc Degree in Chemistry, or related fields.
 * 2+ years of experience in an industrial synthetic chemistry lab environment.
 * Proven experience as a Synthetic Chemist or in a relevant position.
 * Proven experience in chemical cell surface modification.
 * Physical and chemical characterisation techniques of encapsulation systems and final formulations.
 * Development, production, and characterisation of encapsulation systems using biodegradable/sustainable materials for encapsulation of bioactive compounds.
 * An understanding of Agrochemical formulation and CIPAC methods.
Critical professional and personal capabilities
 * Eligible to work in the UK.
 * Experience in experimental design, data collection & management, analysis, and interpretation of results.
 * Experience producing or contributing to departmental quality documentation (including SOPs, batch documentation, validation protocols & reports).
 * High adaptability to a multidisciplinary environment.
 * "Hands‑on" approach with a high commitment to meeting working deadlines.
 * Proven ability to root‑cause and resolve technically challenging problems.
 * Strong motivation to work both independently and as part of a team in an interdisciplinary environment, with the ability to pay close attention to detail and meet deadlines.
 * Highly organised and dynamic.
 * Able to multitask on various projects.
 * Good verbal and written communication skills.
 * Administer samples, pack and dispatch samples, and manage waste disposal.
 * Work safely by using and understanding existing COSHH and risk assessments and writing new ones as needed.
 * Maintain a clean working environment and general housekeeping and be fully committed to the quality system along with the safety and regulatory requirements of the business.
