Transport Manager - Haverhill Branch
Our Haverhill branch is seeking an energetic, innovative, and dynamic Transport Manager. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing a fleet in a fast-paced environment and experience in effectively running a successful transport function. The role involves overseeing transport and distribution operations while maintaining high standards of service, efficiency, and performance.
Key Responsibilities include:
1. Managing the day-to-day operations of the transport department, with previous experience in HGV management being essential.
2. Leading a team of drivers and managing vehicles to ensure the effective delivery of building supplies, plumbing, and heating products.
3. Overseeing dispatching, routing, and tracking of delivery vehicles.
4. Ensuring compliance with all transport policies, legislation, and procedures, including tachograph regulations.
5. Managing, monitoring, and developing the driver team.
6. Participating in strategic development and continuous improvement initiatives.
7. Ensuring all vehicles are properly maintained and serviced.
8. Maintaining accurate administrative records.
9. Conducting staff appraisals and managing disciplinary issues.
10. Overseeing health and safety matters related to the fleet.
11. Coordinating with yard operatives for correct product handling, quantities, locations, and timings.
12. Collaborating with the warehouse and yard managers.
13. Experience in the merchant industry is preferable.
14. This role requires working 1 in 2 Saturdays.
