We foster a strong culture of teamwork and continuous improvement. Job Description: Join Gregory Distribution as a Transport Supervisor, supporting our busy Milk Operation based in Cullompton. In this role, you will provide hands-on leadership and supervision of day-to-day transport operations, with a strong focus on compliance and operational excellence. You will also offer wider operational support across the Cullompton site as required. Key Responsibilities: Ensure all vehicles and drivers under your supervision are effectively routed to maximise utilisation, consistently meeting customer and GDL service requirements while maintaining control of associated costs. Ensure all tankers operating from Cullompton are presented in a clean, safe, and professional condition at all times. Enforce adherence to the company uniform policy, ensuring appropriate PPE is issued, available, and reordered as required. Provide strong compliance support, ensuring all activities involving vehicles, drivers, and trailers meet statutory obligations, legal requirements, and Health & Safety standards. Ensure all GDL and customer documentation is completed accurately and within required timescales. Maintain positive industrial relations, addressing local issues promptly and escalating concerns to Senior Management where necessary. Manage first-stage disciplinary procedures for employees under your supervision, in line with company policy. Ensure full compliance with customer hygiene standards and required operating procedures. Handle incoming telephone calls courteously and professionally, resolving queries efficiently from customers or senior GDL management. Build and maintain strong working relationships between drivers, customers, and key stakeholders (including farmers), ensuring issues are resolved amicably through appropriate channels. Coordinate with Workshops to make vehicles and trailers available for servicing and repairs, ensuring continued compliance with 'O' Licence requirements. Support the recruitment of drivers, ensuring all new starters receive thorough inductions and are fully trained in operational procedures. Requirements: Previous experience within a transport or logistics environment, with a sound understanding of the Working Time Directive and EU Drivers' Hours regulations. Demonstrated leadership capability, with the ability to manage, support, and motivate a busy operational team. A valid HGV Class 1 (CE) licence and Driver CPC are desirable but not essential. Communicate with confidence and clarity at every level, building strong relationships across the business. Leverage your strong UK geographical knowledge to keep operations running smoothly and efficiently. Showcase your organisational skills by prioritising tasks and managing a busy workload with ease. Demonstrate sharp attention to detail and consistently hit daily deadlines. Work collaboratively within a supportive team while also thriving when using your own initiative.
