We're currently seeking an experienced Highways Supervisor to join our client's team on a freelance basis, working across National Highways projects. This role offers a dynamic mix of in-office planning and site-based supervision, making it an excellent opportunity for a professional who thrives on variety and responsibility.
The Role
As Highways Supervisor, you will take ownership of both the planning and delivery stages of works. Your time will be split between:
·Office-based planning, including preparing and reviewing traffic management (TM) requirements, liaising with planners and subcontractors, and ensuring works are programmed efficiently.
·On-site supervision, overseeing works to ensure compliance with specifications, safety standards, and National Highways requirements.
You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest quality.
Key Responsibilities
·Supervise highways works on site, maintaining safety, quality, and programme compliance.
·Assist with traffic management planning, including reviewing drawings and advising on implementation.
·Coordinate with engineers, subcontractors, and site teams.
·Monitor progress, carry out site inspections, and complete reports as required.
·Ensure compliance with health & safety and environmental standards.
·Act as the point of contact between site operations and office planning teams.
Requirements
·Previous experience as a Supervisor on National Highways or other major highways schemes.
·Strong knowledge of traffic management (TM) planning and delivery.
·12AB ticket
·SSSTS/SMSTS and CSCS (essential).
·First Aid (desirable).
·Excellent communication and organisational skills.
·Ability to balance office-based planning with on-site supervision.
