Overview
Senior Water Consultant to join the Water team in the Regulations and Development sector. The role involves leading and/or managing the production of flood risk consenting documents, Water Cycle Studies, flood risk assessments, and related outputs for major clients, with responsibility for a small but growing team in the Basingstoke office. The team serves a variety of UK and international clients, including local government, water companies, private developers, and large Middle Eastern contracts. The opportunity supports career development, innovation through technology, and mentoring within a dynamic Water business of around 670 experts across the UK & Ireland.

Responsibilities
* Produce technical documents to a high standard, including flood risk assessments, water cycle studies, flood risk activity permits, drought permits, and water resource chapters of EIAs.
* Use GIS to collate, organise and analyse data for interpretation into technical reports.
* Carry out water resource modelling using tools such as Aquator, PyWR, SIMCAT, RQP and rainfall–runoff methods.
* Apply numerical analysis to hydrological data and develop solutions.
* Contribute to tenders for complex and/or high-profile projects, such as Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects.
* Keep up-to-date with regulatory developments affecting services (e.g., Water Resource Planning Guidance).
* Mentor junior staff through the preparation of technical documents.
* Use AECOM’s project management systems to deliver high-quality outputs within agreed programmes and budgets.
Qualifications
* Experience in preparing technical documents related to water resources.
* Good understanding of regulatory requirements for flood risk and water resources.
* Strong numerical and analytical skills.
* Experience and understanding of water resource modelling preferred.
* Programming skills in Python or R preferred.
* Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related discipline.
* Working towards professional chartered status with CIWEM or ICE preferred.
