Purpose of the Role
As a member of the SHE team at Colas Ltd, you will provide leadership in a support and advisory capacity to management and employees on Safety, Health, Wellbeing and Environment (SHE) matters. Working in line with legislation, company and group policy, your primary aim will be to improve overall SHE performance across the PASS workstream. The role is based in Warrington and also covers Avonmouth and Grantham, with travel to various sites and locations to provide practical support and expert advice across the business.
Main Responsibilities
As SHE Manager, you will attend and contribute to meetings with managers, partners, clients and customers, provide emergency response advice, and carry out site inspections and face‑to‑face discussions. Responsibilities include monitoring and correcting EcoOnline entries, action trackers and investigations, identifying trends to drive improvement, and performing internal SHE audits against ISO standards and National Highway Sector Schemes. You will support operational units to complete audits and corrective actions, promote best practice across the PASS workstream, help produce and update SHE policies and campaign plans, attend One Colas Safety meetings, deliver or support SHE training, and perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Director – SHE.
The Ideal Candidate
As SHE Manager, you will hold a NEBOSH General Certificate plus Chartered IOSH membership or ISEP Practitioner membership, with at least five years’ management experience in SHE, preferably in bitumen, emulsion or specialist surfacing sectors. You must understand ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001 and National Highway Sector Schemes, and have strong communication skills to influence operational stakeholders and drive continuous improvement.
Package Description
* A salary of circa £55,000 to £65,000 per annum plus company car or £570 monthly allowance.
