We are looking to appoint a Multi-Trade Operative as part of our mobile workforce, responsible for carrying out routine repairs and maintenance to homes and other buildings/assets owned and managed by Sandwell Council.
Role Overview
The successful candidate will proactively apply their knowledge and skills to complete jobs fully, minimizing the need for follow-up visits. The post involves working flexibly, receiving work through a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), and ensuring timely completion of tasks.
Key Responsibilities
1. Carry out small multi-skilled tasks to enable complete job completion in one visit.
2. Meet customers at scheduled times and undertake initial on-site assessments.
3. Communicate effectively with trade colleagues and line managers regarding additional works, maintenance recommendations, and customer needs.
4. Work in an agile manner, starting and ending work at the agreed locations and times.
Minimum Requirements
* At least two years of on-site experience as a Multi-Trade Operative across carpentry, plumbing, tiling, and plastering.
* Experience in full kitchen and bathroom installations.
* Experience working to health and safety standards in workplace and on-site environments.
* Ability to handle complex jobs involving multiple trades, presenting as an all-rounder.
* Hold NVQ Level II or equivalent in Plumbing and Carpentry, Fire Door Installation Diploma (or working towards), and Unvented Domestic Hot Water qualification (or working towards).
