NHS Fife is seeking an inspiring and forward thinking clinical leader to take up the combined role of Director of Medical Education (DME) and Associate Medical Director (AMD) for Professional Standards. This is a pivotal senior leadership post within our newly established Teaching Health Board, shaping the future of medical training and supporting the highest standards of medical professionalism. About the Role As DME, you will lead all aspects of undergraduate and postgraduate medical education across NHS Fife, ensuring excellent training environments that meet GMC Promoting Excellence standards. You will work collaboratively with NHS Education Scotland (NES), our university partners, clinical leaders and an established team of Associate DMEs. As AMD for Professional Standards, you will support the Medical Director to maintain and enhance quality, governance, appraisal, revalidation and professional culture across the medical workforce. This combined role offers the opportunity to influence and enhance the learning experience of over 1,000 medical students and 280 resident doctors, while helping to shape the future of healthcare delivery across Fife. Key Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership for medical education and training throughout NHS Fife. Ensure compliance with GMC standards and fulfil NHS Fife’s duties as a Local Education Provider. Lead Associate DMEs, Local Module Leads, trainers and medical education teams. Oversee the ACT (Additional Costs of Teaching) budget and ensure effective educational investment. Strengthen partnerships with NES and universities including St Andrews, Dundee, Edinburgh and Aberdeen. Support appraisal, revalidation, and delivery of high professional standards across the medical workforce. Represent NHS Fife nationally, including participation in the Scottish DME Group. About You You will be a clinically active Consultant, SAS Doctor or GP with: Current GMC registration with licence to practise. Significant leadership experience in medical education. A recognised postgraduate qualification in medical education. Strong understanding of educational governance, assessment, quality management and GMC requirements. Excellent leadership, communication and change management skills. Commitment to fairness, inclusion and person centred leadership.
