We are looking for a Tooling Engineer / Estimator to join a well-established precision engineering business based in High Wycombe. This hybrid role sits between toolmaking, design support, and estimating, playing a key role in managing customer enquiries from initial technical review through to quotation and order placement.
This position would suit someone with a background in precision engineering or press tooling who is looking to develop their commercial and technical career within a growing manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities

Reviewing customer enquiries, drawings, and tooling layouts

Collaborating with the internal design and toolmaking teams to determine the best manufacturing approach
*
Liaising with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing (heat treatment, grinding, coatings, etc.)
*
Building accurate cost estimates and preparing customer quotations
*
Managing enquiries through the ERP system from initial enquiry through to purchase order
*
Supporting communication between engineering, production, and commercial teams
Candidate Requirements
We are ideally looking for someone with:

2 – 8 years’ experience within precision engineering, press tooling, or a similar manufacturing environment
*
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and tooling layouts
*
Good IT skills, including confidence using ERP systems, Excel, and CAD software
*
Experience obtaining pricing and working with suppliers and subcontractors
*
Strong organisation, communication, and problem-solving skills
*
A commercial mindset with the ability to balance technical and cost considerations
Ideal Profile
This role would suit someone who is technically capable, organised, and commercially minded, possibly looking to transition from a pure engineering or toolmaking role into a more customer-facing technical position.
We are open to candidates who are relatively early in their career but demonstrate strong technical understanding and a willingness to develop.
Salary & Benefits
