A highly respected independent co-educational day school in Harrogate is seeking to appoint an accomplished and passionate Teacher of History to join its successful Humanities faculty. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity within a school renowned for academic excellence, outstanding pastoral care and a rich co-curricular offering. History is a flagship subject within the school, attracting strong uptake at both GCSE and A-Level, with students regularly progressing to leading universities. The Role You will teach History across KS3–KS5, delivering a challenging and intellectually stimulating curriculum that encourages independent thought, debate and scholarly writing. At Key Stage 3, students are introduced to a broad and ambitious curriculum that develops strong chronological understanding alongside key historical concepts such as causation, significance and interpretation. Teaching places a strong emphasis on discussion, source evaluation and academic literacy. At GCSE and A-Level, students benefit from small class sizes, enabling close academic support and high-level dialogue. Teaching focuses on depth of knowledge, historiography and confident extended writing, with excellent examination outcomes year on year.
