Offer description

You will be working towards a full-time job and studying towards a degree apprenticeship with Sheffield Hallam University on our flagship BSc (Hons) in Digital and Technology Solutions. It’s a 3-year course with an initial 12-week bootcamp on campus. You will then study part-time using a blended approach of on-campus days and online learning, while working full-time. You will learn industry-standard technologies and modules such as programming fundamentals, systems analysis and design, database administration, and software engineering. The degree includes a final project in collaboration with Capgemini’s business.

You will join a large business area working for our largest UK public sector client, collaborating with experts and enjoying career opportunities. You will be part of a community of Graduates and Apprentices.

As an Apprentice Software Engineer, you will be part of a Scrum team, working with senior and junior engineers who share your passion for Agile practices, high-quality software, and innovative problem-solving. Your responsibilities will include:

* Designing, developing, and delivering software solutions in collaboration with team members.
* Applying Agile methodologies to improve productivity and communication.
* Learning from experienced engineers and mentoring junior team members.
* Engaging in technical certifications and professional growth activities.
* Participating in diverse projects to challenge and broaden your skills.


Your Profile

To be eligible, you need:

* 7 GCSEs including Maths and English (grade 4-9).
* Knowledge of at least one programming language such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or C++.
* Understanding of software development methodologies and practices.
* Good problem-solving and analytical skills.

Plus, one of the following qualifications:

* 3 A*-C grades at A-level (excluding AS Levels).
* Completed Advanced Apprenticeship.
* BTEC with a minimum of MMM.

This role is based in Telford, West Midlands. You should be within commuting distance, typically working in the office 3 days a week. Other locations may have different opportunities.


Your Security Clearance

Successful applicants must obtain Security Check (SC) clearance.
