Overview
Senior Occupational Therapist role to complete skilled and specialised Occupational Therapy assessments with the implementation of safe interventions which promote independence, choice and support people to live well for longer whilst reducing where possible the need for hospitalization or long-term residential care. The post includes specialisation in one or more Occupational Therapy disciplines such as community, dementia, reablement, manual handling and other developing professional areas. The role also involves assisting with the development and reviews of the Community Occupational Therapy services in North Northamptonshire to support the growth of an effective community-based therapy service with a focus on quality and ensuring professional standards are met.

Responsibilities
* Complete skilled and specialised Occupational Therapy assessments with the implementation of safe interventions to promote independence and reduce hospitalization or long-term residential care needs where possible.
* Specialise in one or more Occupational Therapy disciplines (e.g., community, dementia, reablement, manual handling, and other developing areas).
* Assist with the development and reviews of the Community Occupational Therapy services in North Northamptonshire.
* Support the growth of an effective Community-based Therapy service with a focus on quality and ensuring professional standards are met.
* Participate in a team that uses a strengths-based approach to therapy interventions in line with North Northants Council values and behaviours.
Qualifications / Experience
* Experience of moving and handling and knowledge of equipment, with awareness of best practice and current legislation.
* Understanding of moving with dignity using a single care approach (desirable).
* Experience of rehabilitation models and hospital discharge pathways.
* Knowledge and understanding of major and minor adaptations, specialist equipment and housing.
* Knowledge of assistive technology (desirable, but not mandatory).
* Experience of OT practice delivered within a Community or reablement setting.
