Friends of the Lake District is an independent charity and the only membership organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing Cumbria's landscapes. We believe the Lake District offers some of the most spectacular and precious landscapes in England. Our efforts benefit local communities, visitors, wildlife, and habitats by preserving and enhancing natural beauty. We aim to create a landscape that is beautiful, diverse, tranquil, and environmentally healthy, while ensuring it is conserved, enhanced, and accessible to all.
Role Description
This is a full-time role based in Kendal with considerable travel across Cumbria. The Engagement Lead will develop and implement engagement strategies that inspire and educate the public about the Lake District's landscapes. Responsibilities include coordinating community outreach programs, organizing events, and managing volunteer involvement. The role involves close collaboration with other NGOs, community groups and other stakeholders to foster a deeper appreciation of the landscape and ensure active participation in its preservation.

* Skills in Community Outreach, Public Relations, and Stakeholder Engagement
* Experience in Event Planning, Coordination, and Volunteer Management
* Effective Communication, Presentation, and Interpersonal skills
* Strong Organizational and Project Management skills
* Proactive Attitude and Ability to Inspire others
* Passion for Environmental Conservation and Preservation
* Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Communications, Public Relations, or related field
* Experience in the nonprofit sector is a plus
