The post holder will be clinically located within a male and a female treatment ward, along side another Occupational Therapist. They will provide day‑to‑day leadership for the provision of Occupational Therapy and ward activities, as well as AHPs within the unit. They will work alongside the other AHP clinical leads to maintain efficient and effective service processes and impact.
We are looking for a skilled and experienced occupational therapist who has a genuine interest in working to support the recovery of people at the most vulnerable and complex stage of their mental health recovery.
The successful candidate will need to be skilled, knowledgeable, personable and keen to take on new challenges, knowledge and innovation. They will be able to work effectively within the multidisciplinary team, providing clinical expertise, direct support and direction with team‑based clinical interventions, initiatives and management of the ward environment.
They will be required to provide professional support, supervision and CPD development to the OT and Activity Coordinator staff within Acute Inpatient Treatment Pathway.
Quality improvement involvement and occupational therapy related postgraduate training at masters level is expected for this role.
Due to the nature of the Coventry and Warwickshire geography of our acute inpatient services and patients’ homes, an ability to drive and access to own vehicle is required for this post.
To work as part of Acute Inpatient Mental Health Services delivering high quality occupational therapy to a designated caseload.
To lead the clinical delivery and development of occupational therapy provision at St Michael’s Hospital, within a multidisciplinary clinical team within CWPT acute inpatient mental health services, in conjunction with service leads.
To be responsible for the coordination, management and oversight of day‑to‑day therapy resources and spaces.
To work in conjunction with ward staff, MDT, team leads, service lead, and professional leadership, taking a lead on occupational therapy service provision, and related quality, service improvement, innovation and research.
