Role: Senior Quantity Surveyor
Salary: £80,000 - £85,000
Location: Lacock HQ (Wiltshire) or Lincolnshire Agricultural Office
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 40 hours
Stonegate Farmers is continuing to invest significantly in its UK estate and is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to provide senior commercial leadership across our diverse and expanding construction portfolio. The role can be based from either our Lacock Head Office or our Lincolnshire office, with regular site presence as required.
In this role, you will hold overall responsibility for the financial, contractual and commercial performance of multiple concurrent projects, spanning residential and industrial developments. This includes new builds, extensions, refurbishments and fit‑outs, alongside associated groundworks and civil infrastructure.
Acting as a trusted commercial partner to the Business Owner and Directors, you will ensure strong commercial governance, value for money and long‑term sustainability across the portfolio. You will lead on cost planning, financial control and commercial assurance from early design through to final account, playing a key role in the successful delivery of projects.

Role & Responsibilities:
* Work closely with the Business Owner, Directors, Contracts Manager and consultants, providing expert commercial advice, robust challenge, and commercially sound solutions
* Lead commercial strategy, procurement and contract selection across multiple schemes, aligning delivery with business objectives
* Prepare, review and maintain detailed cost estimates and budgets, covering materials, labour and associated project expenses
* Reviewing, challenging and approving cost plans, valuations, variations and weekly cost/value reports to ensure robust financial control throughout the project lifecycle.
* Lead negotiations and agreement of contracts, variations and final accounts with contractors and suppliers
* Set and uphold commercial governance standards, ensuring consistency, compliance and best practice across all construction activity
* Identify, manage and mitigate commercial, financial, contractual and programme risk
* Produce and present senior‑level cost, risk and value reports to Directors and key stakeholders
* Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, CDM and statutory requirements, working closely with operational teams
* Contribute to capital planning and long‑term investment decisions, supporting the future growth of the Stonegate estate

Qualifications / Experience:
* Degree‑qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related construction discipline
* Relevant Health, Safety and compliance knowledge, with strong understanding of CDM and construction governance
* Full UK driving licence, with flexibility to travel across sites
* Proven experience operating at Senior Quantity Surveyor or Senior Commercial Lead level
* Demonstrable experience overseeing multiple projects
* Strong track record in cost control, forecasting, risk management and senior‑level reporting
* Advanced knowledge of contract strategy, procurement and negotiation, including JCT Construction Management and other relevant forms
* Familiarity with construction projects in the agricultural sector is a plus
