Your role:
You will be a positive ambassador for delivering creative and effective Youth Justice / Youth interventions within our informed approach. You will be responsible for ensuring health and safety and quality standards are maintained in all aspects of the work and an understanding of a risk assessment process.
REACH Safeguarding Adolescent Service alongside colleagues from Wigan Council, and wider partners. A genuine passion for working with children in this context and building strong relationships will be at your core.
Your key roles will include delivering direct work in a one-to-one setting, with children (aged 10- 18 years) open to the service. You will be working with children known to youth justice on their community-based reparation and un-paid work sessions. You will also work with children and families open to social care who are edge of care. You will provide highly intensive programmes of supervision and support to children subject to youth justice court orders.
The role involves working with children to address the factors associated with family breakdown, offending and anti-social behaviour using a strength based and trauma
About you:
We are seeking enthusiastic, tenacious and strength-focused applicants to apply for this position with the REACH service. You will have the ability to engage children, young people and families in a variety of settings across various methods including one to one, supervision and group work.
It requires a good understanding of contextual safeguarding, adolescent development and the potential impact of trauma and adverse childhood experiences on adolescent safety, wellbeing and behaviours.
The post holder will have the ability to remain calm in challenging situations and understand the underlying causes linked to behaviours. Excellent communication skills are imperative. The post holder will need to be flexible in their work, with the capacity to work some evening, weekends and bank holidays.

Wigan Youth Justice Team received an overall ‘Good’ rating in its H.M.I.P inspection in May 2021.
