NRL’s engineering client is looking to recruit a Senior Electrical Designer to be based in Warrington.
About the role:
As a leading engineering firm driving the energy transition in the UK, our client is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Electrical Designer to join their projects team based in Warrington.
Responsibilities include:
* Providing technical support for the design of ongoing projects and frameworks across all industry sectors.
* Reporting to the Group Design Manager, responsibilities include:
* Providing effective, accurate & efficient Electrical and Instrumentation Engineering design services.
* Generating electrical installation deliverables in compliance with BS7671 IEE Wiring Regulations and client specifications.
* Supporting effective delivery of projects to time, quality, and cost targets, with the ability to multi-task and prioritize.
* Producing documentation in accordance with defined standards/quality requirements.
* Liaising with design and equipment subcontractors.
* Leading the improvement of performance by seeking, reviewing, and applying innovative solutions.
* Interfacing with other disciplines such as Mechanical, Process, HVAC, and Civil.
What you will need:
* Extensive experience in a relevant design role, including successful delivery of electrical installation designs within water utility sector projects.
* Thorough knowledge of IEE Wiring Regulations – BS7671 - 18th Edition.
* HNC or Degree in technical engineering or related subject.
* Membership of a professional institution or similar body is desirable.
* Strong experience in UK water utility sector construction projects.
* Experience of E&I design best practices.
* Strong understanding of the design process & associated documentation.
* Project lifecycle experience (Concept through detail design to construction support and as-built documentation).
* Familiarity with CDM Regulations 2015 and experience undertaking the ‘Designer’ role.
* Ability to undertake site surveys.
* Collaborative skills and experience working in a multi-discipline team.
* Familiarity with hazardous area design, hazardous area protection principles, and generation of associated documentation, including intrinsically safe calculations and inspection schedules.
* Construction support experience.
* Ability to work independently or in a team, and liaise with client representatives.
* Working knowledge of 3D software such as Revit and Navisworks.
* Proficiency in producing 2D and 3D design deliverables, including GAs, equipment layouts, cable and containment routing diagrams, single-line diagrams, cable block diagrams, earthing diagrams, instrumentation loop diagrams, cable calculations, digital communication network diagrams, hazardous area designs, and building services design.
Software packages:
* Proficient in AutoCAD LT, Relux/Dialux, Trimble (Amtech) Pro Design Suite, Microsoft Office, Aveva, Navisworks, Revit (Desirable).
