As an engineer within the Civil Engineering Team, you’ll be a Drax Power Station civil subject matter expert. You’ll be accountable for technical excellence, with the expertise to make key engineering decisions.
You’ll have the responsibility of liaising with and managing a large consultancy and contractor resource.

About the role
You’ll support the Lead Engineer to deliver the Business Plan, contributing to strategies for maintaining ageing and constructing new civil assets.
You’ll be a key member of the Civil Engineering team, supporting colleagues and acting as a point of contact for civil engineering inquiries.
You’ll manage internal and external stakeholders, including internal departments, subcontractors, suppliers, and designers. You’ll produce specifications and project scoping documents, ensure work packages meet standards, and manage risks.
You’ll be responsible for compliance with legislative, statutory, corporate, and site policies, requiring strong commercial and contract management skills.
This includes contract management tasks such as negotiating and tendering contracts, specifying work, conducting risk assessments, and supervising contractor work.
The role involves collaborative work within the Civil Engineering team and other departments. Flexibility and the ability to manage a varied workload in a fast-paced environment are essential.
We seek a team player capable of supporting all aspects of daily operations and handling specialist inquiries. As a small team, supporting and covering for others is expected.
About you
You should be technically competent, able to review designs, calculation packs, and methodologies in accordance with British Standards, Eurocodes, and Temporary Works.
Previous design experience as a consultant or design manager for a contractor, along with experience managing civil infrastructure and building projects in the construction industry, is required.
You must be an excellent communicator, able to engage effectively at all levels within the business and manage multiple stakeholders and workstreams.
A relevant university degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent is essential.
