Overview
Infant Feeding Health Visitor - 30 hours - Fixed term 18 months
The postholder will work as part of the Trust’s newly formed Integrated Infant Feeding Team, to implement the UNICEF Baby Friendly Standards across both Hospital and community.
They will be responsible for contributing to and implementing the multi-agency Tameside Infant Feeding Strategy. The post holder will be required to provide specialist clinical infant feeding support for parents and staff.
Responsibilities
* Support the delivery of infant feeding services across maternity/NICU/0-19yrs community service to increase breastfeeding rates.
* Promote responsive bottle feeding and relationship building and influence introducing solid food practices to encourage healthy eating.
* Work closely with partners in hospital, community, primary care and Family Hubs within Tameside and a broad range of voluntary services to develop infant feeding services across the borough.
* Maintain accurate records of all care delivered and ensure compliance with infant feeding standards.
* Develop knowledge and act as an independent autonomous practitioner providing specialist advice to parents and staff.
* Provide education and support to other multi-disciplinary staff and learners within this agenda.
* Support the delivery action plans to ensure the Trust and partner organisations meet the required BFI standards to achieve accreditation.
* Develop skills and knowledge to deliver specialised programmes of care including specialist advice clinics/home visits for babies and mothers.
* Use multiple communication and marketing methods to disseminate health information about breastfeeding, introducing solid foods and infant feeding (e.g., social media, press releases, development of health information, training).
