Consultant in Paediatric Anaesthetics (x3)
Dynamiccolleagues required to fill new and replacement posts within the anaestheticdepartment, Leeds Childrens Hospital.
The post-holder will participate in theundergraduate teaching program for the school of Medicine, University of Leeds,which is organised on specialty or clinical area basis. The appointee, withcolleagues, will contribute to the teaching of postgraduates, including theteaching program for StRs in Anaesthesia in the Yorkshire Deanery.

Main duties of the job
Thesuccessful applicant should possess FRCA (or equivalent) and should be includedon the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview,if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointmentregulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the SpecialistRegister.
Applicants should have established skills inpaediatric anaesthesia and have undertaken advanced training in this area. Excellent communication and team workingskills, a strong commitment to teaching and service development are essential.
Consideration will be given to applicantswho wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.

Job responsibilities
In relation to this post,there is a requirement for increased anaesthetic capacity to deliver additionalactivity coupled with the recurrent dependence on locum consultantanaesthetists to deliver the existing service.The requirement to deliver the current service level agreements andadditional elective sessions requires an increase in the number of anaestheticconsultants employed by the Trust.
2.OBJECTIVESOF THE POST
1. Towork with other consultant colleagues in the provision of a comprehensive paediatric
anaesthetic service in the Leeds TeachingHospitals NHS Trust.
2. Todevelop and/or consolidate expertise in anaesthesia for major subspecialities inchildren
3. Totake an active role in quality improvement
4. Tomaintain and expand the excellence of teaching and research already established
within the Trust.
5. Tosupport service plans for the specialty, taking account of the changes inclinical
practice and new technologies available.
6.To participate in and progress Clinical Governance
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Hold full GMC Registration with a license to practice.
* YOUR GMC NUMBER MUST BE CLEARLY STATED IN YOUR APPLICATION.
* Eligibility to work in the UK.
* Is up to date and fit to practise safely.
Experience
* Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in paediatric anaesthesia.
* Specifically, must demonstrate higher training in paediatric anaesthesia.
* Evidence of continuous career progression consistent with personal circumstances.
* Experience in anaesthesia for neonates/ Paediatric neuroanaesthesia / anaesthesia for radiotherapy
Training, Research, Teaching & Audit
* Should have completed a recognised training programme in paediatric anaesthesia.
* Evidence of the ability to carry out medical research.
* Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
* Experience of participation in regular clinical audit.
* Post CCT fellowship in paediatric anaesthesia.
* Previous experience of supervising research by junior staff.
* Evidence of Small Group Teaching, organising/ delivering formal teaching programme.
* Completion of audit cycle and demonstrating quality improvement.
Management, Interpersonal Skills & Other Requirements
* Understanding of current issues in the NHS.
* *Well organised and skilled in good time management.

* *Demonstrate ability to relate to and work within a team.
* *Hold full GMC Registration with a license to practice.
* *Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via:
* -CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) CESR (or) international applicants should comply with the GMC specialty registration process. CESR applicants must be on the relevant Specialist Register at the time of application.
* Attendance at recognised management course, evidence of leadership.
* Demonstrates ability to lead a team.
