About the Role
We're looking for a skilled and motivated Roofer to join our Repairs & Maintenance Service. Our team provides a first‑class service maintaining and improving housing, public buildings, and other properties across the district. You’ll play a key part in keeping homes and community buildings safe, warm, and weatherproof. This is a varied, hands‑on role where you’ll carry out day‑to‑day roofing repairs, maintenance, and refurbishment on a wide range of properties, including domestic homes, schools, and public buildings.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Carry out general roofing repairs, maintenance, and refurbishment on properties.
* Deliver roofing schemes, ensuring work is completed to a high standard, on time, and in line with health and safety regulations.
* Maintain accurate records and timesheets using a handheld mobile device.
* Ensure excellent customer care by being professional, responsive, and respectful when dealing with tenants and clients.
* Keep up to date with technological developments and materials within the trade.
What We’re Looking For
You’ll be an experienced roofer with a broad understanding of both flat and pitched roofing systems, including:
* In‑depth knowledge of built‑up felt roofing, slating, tiling, and general roof repairs.
* Understanding of other building trades and how they relate to roofing work.
* Apprentice‑trained or able to demonstrate equivalent relevant experience.
* NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Roofing or a related construction trade.
* Experience using a variety of roofing materials.
* Awareness of health, safety, and environmental regulations in the building trade.
* Good understanding of customer care principles.
* Physically fit and able to work at heights, in confined spaces, and outdoors in all weather.
* Full, valid UK driving licence.
* Willingness to undertake medical screening and an enhanced DBS check.
