Position: Contracts Engineer – Civil Engineering / Utilities
Our client, a leading specialist in drainage, utility services, and civil engineering infrastructure projects, is seeking a Contracts Engineer to join their team. This Contracts Engineer role is hands-on, focusing on project costs, contracts, and commercial risk management, while providing guidance and support to junior staff on-site and in the office.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage project budgets from initial estimates to final accounts, ensuring accurate forecasting and reporting as a Contracts Engineer
* Lead contract negotiation, procurement, and subcontract management
* Monitor and mitigate commercial and contractual risks across civil engineering projects
* Provide commercial and contractual guidance to project teams as a senior Contracts Engineer
* Mentor and support junior commercial or engineering staff
* Visit project sites every 2–3 weeks (travel and accommodation covered)
Skills & Experience Required
* Proven experience in cost management, contract administration, and risk mitigation in civil engineering projects
* Civil engineering background in drainage, water, utilities, or infrastructure projects is essential
* Experience in engineering contracts, procurement, and commercial risk management
* Ability to mentor junior staff and provide guidance as a Contracts Engineer
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and industry-standard cost/estimating software
* Driving licence required
Preferred Experience:
* Minimum 5 years as a Contracts Engineer or Commercial Manager in the civil engineering/utility sectors
