Here’s The Exciting Bit… A Day Includes
The role is part of the Financial Reporting team which looks after Superdrug and Savers businesses, supporting month end close and processes, quarterly reporting to Group in Hong Kong, and all year end processes from liaising with auditors to statutory accounts reporting. It is a great opportunity for someone wanting to gain a breadth of experience in a Financial Accountant role, and exposure to a wide range of areas within finance.
A Typical Day In This Role Includes
* Take full ownership of preparing relevant internal and external reporting deliverables for entities such as Superdrug, Savers, and AS Watson (Health & Beauty UK) Limited, including coordination of period‑end activities as appropriate.
* Co‑ordinate the preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring robust reviews and timely resolution or escalation of issues.
* Prepare direct and indirect cash flows and balance sheet reporting, ensuring accurate forecasts and variance analyses.
* Take full ownership of the annual corporation tax computations, including capital allowances, payments on account and period‑end tax postings.
* Develop and produce other relevant financial reports such as annual statutory accounts.
* Support the Senior Financial Reporting Manager in ensuring Group accounting policy and internal control guidelines are understood and implemented, and in evaluating new accounting standards.
* Support the Senior Financial Reporting Manager with ad‑hoc projects for continuous improvement in financial reporting and control.
* Line‑manage the Financial Accountant.
* Generate detailed customer‑focused initiatives aligned with the department strategy and drive execution.
* Listen to the customer and implement new ideas and ways of working to improve service for both online and offline channels.
* Ensure the team prioritises actions that delight customers and team members.

What You’ll Need
* Qualified in a recognised accountancy qualification.
* Strong Excel skills.
* Self‑starter able to work independently with a track record of learning new areas quickly.
* Experience of month‑end reporting, balance sheet reconciliations and corporation tax (advantageous).
* Interest in the retail sector (useful).
Technical Responsibilities
