When you work in Freight Logistics and Operations at Kuehne+Nagel, you play a key role in optimising processes and ensuring that inventory and shipments move efficiently. But that is not all. Your work also helps ensure that vital medicines reach patients on time and supports other essential deliveries, from wind turbines to semiconductors. You will execute first class services (. transport management and requests & deviation management) according to joint and contractual agreements made with the customer. The role will be performed in the EMG (Logistics Control Tower) in East Midlands Gateway as an integral part of the Control Tower team. You will learn in depth about the role, services and processes through involvement and performing system testing and work instructions creation.
How you create impact
1. Coordinate specialised transport services for customer orders, using Loginext Transport
2. Management system as well as manual planning activity.
3. Schedule and create cost effective transport plans, making optimum use of own fleet of vehicles versus sub-contractor haulage where possible.
4. Align with logistics service providers to ensure on-time pick-up and delivery service in full
5. Select transport modes, logistics service providers, considering the agreed selection parameters
6. Issue or receive as well as respond to deviations reported, by identifying root cause, causing party and proposing corrective actions (transport related)
7. Manage along with the supplier driver routes and schedules to maximise productivity and ensure costs are controlled
8. Be the first line of support for logistics queries
9. Respond constructively to customer requests to develop a proactive relationship, to create a positive approach and minimise disruption to business.
What we would like you to bring
10. Strong customer service focus and excellent communication skills
11. Good proficiency in full suite of Microsoft Office
12. Experience with Transport Management Systems and Domestic Transport knowledge would be an advantage
13. Ability to understand and execute new processes
14. Ability to fulfil time-critical tasks, keep schedules and deadlines
15. Able to use own initiative and work unsupervised as well as within the wider team
16. Ability to work in shifts covering 8 hours from 7:00 - 19:00h
