Cyber Engineer (DV Security Clearance)

As a Cyber Engineer within our cyber and protective monitoring capability, you will play a key role in modernising complex data platforms, advancing automation, and strengthening security operations. Working in a collaborative, on-site environment in Basingstoke, you'll contribute to meaningful, technically challenging work while being supported to grow your expertise in SIEM technologies and DevOps practices, with the opportunity to shape robust, scalable solutions that make a tangible difference.
Your Future Duties And Responsibilities
In this role, you will contribute to the evolution of critical cyber and data platforms, taking ownership of modernising infrastructure and enhancing the reliability and scalability of security-focused systems. You will work within a DevOps environment to design, build and improve data ingestion and processing pipelines, ensuring systems are robust, automated and aligned to evolving security requirements. Collaborating closely with internal teams and clients, you will help deliver solutions that directly support mission-critical outcomes.
You will also play a key role in improving release processes, embedding automation and continuous delivery practices, while being supported to develop your expertise across SIEM tooling and modern engineering frameworks.
* Modernise & Transform data collection, processing and storage using distributed systems (Kafka, Kubernetes, Zookeeper)
* Develop & Deliver automated CI/CD pipelines to improve release quality and efficiency
* Optimise & Automate existing deployment and release processes
* Collaborate & Integrate with stakeholders to align development with security requirements
* Support & Enhance SIEM and protective monitoring capabilities
* Document & Maintain technical designs, installations and support processes
Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role
You should have a solid foundation in software/cyber engineering or systems development, with experience working in Linux and/or Windows environments. A proactive mindset, strong communication skills and a willingness to learn in a secure, high-assurance environment are essential. Exposure to DevOps practices, scripting, or security-focused tooling will support your success in this role.
* Good working knowledge of RHEL and/or Windows
* Strong communication skills with the ability to engage across technical and non-technical stakeholders
* Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation
* Familiarity with scripting (e.g. Bash, PowerShell)
* Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD or automation tooling (e.g. Ansible, Azure DevOps)
* Awareness of SIEM, protective monitoring, or cyber security concepts
* Understanding of data engineering principles or SQL-based systems (desirable)
Additional Information
Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This position will work on site in Basingstoke 5 days a week.
