Health Promotion Outreach Worker (Part‑time, Development Post)
A development opportunity has arisen for a Health Promotion Outreach Worker within the Surrey Sexual Health Outreach Team. The role is to extend the provision of sexual health services into wider communities and will involve a training programme designed to progress the holder from Band 4 to Band 5.
Job Overview
The post holder will deliver health promotion and outreach services, run the Surrey Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea screening programme and manage the Condom Distribution Scheme for under‑25s. The role is permanent, based in Woking, and requires travel across Surrey. It will partner with community sexual health services in pharmacies, general practice and the third sector, and deliver training and awareness sessions to staff groups and young people.
Detailed Responsibilities
* Manage the Surrey Chlamydia/gonorrhoea screening programme and Condom Distribution Scheme
* Promote condom use and personal sexual health strategies
* Offer advice and information about sexual health and signpost to clinical services
* Provide asymptomatic STI screening kits to target groups
* Provide support with safer sexual practices
* Help clients assess their sexual health needs and refer them to appropriate clinics and services
* Increase the number of vulnerable and young people tested and support vulnerable clients into mainstream services where applicable
* Provide training sessions for staff or professionals who work with targeted client groups, in various settings
* Participate in the planning, preparation and delivery of training and outreach sessions
