The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust is looking for a full-time Reader Services Archivist to join its Collections department. We will also consider applications for employment on a part-time basis, despite the position being advertised as full-time. You will manage the Reading Room and our team of Reader Services Assistants in the delivery of all reader services, balancing high-quality customer service, care of collections, and effective support for the management of the archive and library collections. You will manage the delivery of digital access to collections for remote researchers and access to archive and library collections, including reprographic and (where appropriate) licensing services. You will report to the Collections Manager and demonstrate experience in archival cataloguing, accessioning, appraisal, preservation management and legislative compliance. You will also show interest in and commitment to developing understanding of Library and Museum practice, in liaison with the relevant curatorial leads, to support access to these collections across the organisation. To be successful in this role, you will be a qualified Archivist and have experience of working in a Reading Room / Search Room. You will be proficient in archive collections management software. You will have a working knowledge of Early Modern palaeography and incorporate this into general Reader Services. You will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, have a commitment to professional, friendly and helpful customer service, be committed to delivering high standards and be able to plan your workload and achieve deadlines. You will be a key part of our interdisciplinary team of museum, library and archive expertise. You will work closely with museum, library and archive colleagues, providing expertise on shared projects, service delivery and development. You will be committed to working collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to increase public access to, and engagement with, our collections.
