1. To deliver specialist assessment and therapeutic management of children across both Northern Lincolnshire (Grimsby and Scunthorpe). To take responsibility for a caseload of children 0-19 years including those with; muscular skeletal, neurological, orthopaedic and rheumatology conditions within a variety of settings.
Main duties of the job
2. Provide high quality specialist Paediatric Physiotherapy assessment and support for a wide range of less and more complex conditions in order to provide evidence based and timely support reducing the risk of harm, preventing deterioration and improving outcomes.
3. Responsible for managing own caseload and a defined area of the service, working without direct supervision.
4. Responsible for leading delegated service improvement and quality initiatives in order to drive forward improvement for CYP in our area.
5. Supervision, support and training for junior staff and other professionals to ensure a highly skilled, supported workforce.
6. Provision of Specialist written and verbal advice including statutory duties

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
You will clinically:
1. Undertake comprehensive assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex presentations or multiple pathologies; use advanced clinical reasoning skills and a range of assessment techniques including manual assessment to provide an accurate diagnosis.
2. Formulate and deliver an individual treatment programme based on this assessment and on knowledge of evidence based practice and treatment options using specialised clinical assessment, reasoning skills and knowledge of treatment skills eg. manual therapy techniques, patient education, exercise classes and other alternative options including aids and equipment devices.
4. Formulate accurate prognoses, recommend optimum intervention and develop comprehensive timely discharge plans using evidence based outcome measures.
5. Assess patient understanding of treatment proposals; gain valid informed consent and work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment.
6. Use a range of verbal and non-verbal communication tools to communicate effectively with patients to facilitate and progress rehabilitation and treatment programmes, including with patients who may be dysphasic, depressed, deaf, blind or unable to communicate.
7. Evaluate patient progress, reassess and alter treatment programmes as required.
8. Represent the physiotherapy service and/or individual patients at MDT meetings to ensure the delivery of a coordinated multidisciplinary service and to integrate physiotherapy treatment into the overall treatment programme. This will include discussion of patient care, patient progress and involvement in discharge planning.
9. Participate in the Adult Respiratory On Call Rota and in this context undertake the assessment and treatment of acutely ill patients with respiratory problems who have a complex presentation. Maintain associated records as an autonomous practitioner. Training and support will be identified for this.

7. Degree /Dipoloma/Masters in Physiotherapy

Knowledge and experience

11. post graduate experience in Physiotherapy across a range of areas (adults or paeds) including: Neurological, community, MSK and rotational)
12. Experience of working with at least 1 complex clinical pathway (adult or paeds)
13. Experience of being part of an MDT
Desirable criteria
14. Post graduate experience in paediatrics
15. experience with a variety of paediatric equipment
