Business Financial Control is responsible for the accounting for all business units ensuring accuracy and integrity of the financial results. This role supports all business areas including Treasury, Savings, Mortgages, Asset Finance, Invoice Finance and Motonovo giving a breadth of involvement and exposure with a goal of creating a consistent approach and level of process and control across a variety of systems. The focus of Business Financial Control is on process and control improvements, collaborating across the organisation to drive the right outcomes.
The role of Financial Control Assistant is really important to us. It is a varied, interesting, and exciting role which will suit someone seeking to become an accountant looking to join a very progressive organisation. Your key responsibility is to conduct financial accounting, reporting and controllership of the asset business lines primarily, although you may be assisting with Treasury or Savings also. You will engage with all aspects of day to day and month end activities, and projects relating to Financial Control. A significant part of the role will be to assist in the development of processes and controls to drive enhancements in the control framework and efficiency.
What will your day look like?
1. Reconciliation of control accounts with timely escalation of issues. Liaise with operational teams to resolve reconciliation issues as well as assisting the business as required.
2. Reconciliation of general ledger to source system accounts
3. Preparing technical accounting entries such as Effective Interest Rates or Expected Credit Losses.
4. Peer review and challenge of accounting entries, technical papers, and management reports.
5. Supporting period close activity, reviewing P&L and Balance Sheet positions to ensure accuracy and integrity.

10. Data aware with the ability to logically approach large volumes of data and use appropriate tools to utilise data to best achieve the business goals
11. Excellent Excel skills would be beneficial
12. Power BI, Power Query, SQL, Python and R experience all highly advantageous.
13. Studying towards Accountancy Qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) – desirable
