Job Overview
Job title: Skills Proposition Lead.
Salary: £78,098 - £101,068.
Locations: Bristol, Halifax, Edinburgh, or Leeds.
Hours: Full time.
Working pattern: Hybrid – at least two days per week at an office site.
Responsibilities
* Set and maintain the Group skills vision, strategy and framework, aligning senior stakeholders to a future‑focused direction.
* Define, maintain and embed a future‑focused skills taxonomy and AI‑aligned job architecture, informing organisation design in partnership with the Organisation Effectiveness team and People Directors/Partners.
* Own the Group development proposition and colleague experience, stewarding and creating impact through the “Growth Without Limits” employee value proposition.
* Define and deploy compelling skilling propositions that address strategic capability gaps and create mobility and talent density.
* Lead engagement with recognised unions via the Skills Council, collaborating on upskilling efforts through Skills Champions.
* Determine the Group’s intentional learning culture and metrics that evidence progress; hold leaders accountable for impact.
* Define the skills development experience and technology/infrastructure to enable it.
* Activate skills at scale through campaigns, nudges, and personalised pathways, including through Skills Academies.
* Work with the People Data Hub team to establish and leverage a robust skills ‘data lake’ to inform SWP, power colleague journeys, and address proficiency gaps.
* Identify and leverage a range of metrics/indicators to determine skills development proposition impact and operational efficiency.
* Champion the reskilling proposition, optimising future role opportunities across the Group and deploying pathways to equip colleagues for bench‑ready readiness.
* Select and optimise core third‑party content providers; drive utilisation and roadmap alignment.
* Adopt and embed agile ways of working to accelerate delivery and impact.
