Applications are invited for a Specialty Doctor post to provide service level cover in the Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) department. Successful candidates will complement the skills of the department and work flexibly within the team across the Norfolk and Waveney combined ENT service.
A candidate unable to undertake the duties of a full-time post for personal reasons will receive equal consideration. If appointed, the job content will be modified as appropriate in consultation with consultant colleagues and local management.
We welcome all applications irrespective of age, disability, gender, sexual orientation, race, or religion. People with disabilities will be offered an interview if they meet the minimum criteria. The Trust operates job share and flexible working arrangements.
The clinical duties include general ENT care, supporting the department's needs, assisting full-time consultants and staff, and providing a comprehensive ENT service to the Trust.
The appointment is to the Trust and not specific to any hospital. There is a strong culture of collaboration between NNUH and JPUH, and staff are expected to honor this commitment. The post involves clinical duties at both hospitals, currently 1 day at JPUH and 4 days at NNUH, with the timetable subject to change.
The post holder will provide care to ENT patients and participate in the out-of-hours Tier 2 on-call service. Responsibilities include ward rounds, emergency care, outpatient clinics, elective surgeries, and participation in the 2nd on-call rota. Currently, all acute/emergency ENT admissions are managed at NNUH, with daytime cover at JPUH.
Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital is a teaching hospital, and the post-holder will participate in undergraduate teaching for medical students.
All employees are expected to engage in the Trust’s Clinical Governance activities, including clinical audits, quality improvement, adherence to guidelines, professional development, appraisal, and risk management.
