Overview

Here at Merton College, we are seeking a Lecturer to provide tutorial and pastoral care for a group or groups of learners with learning disabilities/difficulties and monitor work experience activities. You’ll act as a Course Leader and take responsibility for their study programme and take an active role in all aspects of student assessment and accreditation. You’ll take part in curriculum planning and product development as required and deliver and embed Maths and English to SEND to deliver the College’s strategic objectives.


Responsibilities

* Provide tutorial and pastoral care for learners with learning disabilities/difficulties and monitor work experience activities.
* Act as Course Leader and take responsibility for the learners’ study programme; participate in all aspects of student assessment and accreditation.
* Participate in curriculum planning and product development; deliver and embed Maths and English to SEND to align with the College’s strategic objectives.
* Manage students with challenging behaviour and communicate at a level appropriate to diverse learning abilities.
* Have knowledge of the accreditation framework and assessment strategies in the post-16 sector, including RARPA, and apply information technology and assistive technology to teaching and learning strategies.
* Engage with external agencies and assessment and/or IV practices for a range of specialist accreditation.


Qualifications and Experience

* Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards) and ideally a relevant professional qualification; experience of working with and understanding the needs of SEND.
* Ability to work as part of a team; awareness of current curriculum changes and implications for SEND learning strategies and reforms.
* Experience of curriculum development to meet changing demands of the Further Education Sector, with evidence of providing effective student support.
* Knowledge of the accreditation framework and assessment strategies in the post-16 sector; competency with information technology and assistive technology in teaching and learning.
* Experience working with external agencies and assessment/IV practices for specialist accreditation.
