Assistant Financial Accountant
Fareham - 3 days per week onsite
6 Month Contract
£574 per day (Umbrella)
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Financial Accountant to support the preparation of audited annual financial statements and statutory reporting activities within a complex organisation.
This role plays a key part in audit coordination, financial governance, and ensuring compliance with current financial reporting standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Support preparation of audited annual financial statements and external returns
* Act as key liaison point for external auditors, maintaining reconciliations and preparing audit evidence packs
* Provide analysis and interpretation of financial data to support leadership decision-making
* Ensure accuracy of monthly reconciliations and statutory accounts inputs
* Provide financial accounting and tax guidance across the organisation
* Support VAT returns, losses, special payments and financial controls
* Ensure compliance with IFRS and applicable financial reporting frameworks
Essential Experience
* Qualified or actively studying towards CCAB or CIMA qualification (ACCA/ACA/CIPFA also considered)
* Strong financial accounting and statutory reporting background
* Experience supporting external audit processes
* Knowledge of IFRS and current financial reporting requirements
* Strong Excel skills
* Experience delivering to tight deadlines in complex environments
Desirable
* Public sector financial reporting exposure
* Awareness of Managing Public Money
* Experience with Oracle Financial Cloud
