Principal Infrastructure/Civil Engineer (General Civils and Residential) – Bristol. Full Time, Permanent.
We are recruiting a Principal Infrastructure/Civil Engineer to join our expanding Infrastructure Engineering team in Bristol. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to sustainable and successful development with a wide-ranging portfolio of clients in all sectors across the UK.
What Are We Looking For
We seek a talented individual who can deliver a high-quality service, think innovatively, and collaborate to develop pragmatic design solutions to land development challenges. The candidate should have experience leading projects and teams and be comfortable with hands-on technical design and production of drawings and documentation. A good understanding of Civil Engineering best practice and standards, and the technical design skills to produce high-quality work on a range of projects are required. The individual will use professional judgment to support our client’s projects and goals.
Your areas of knowledge and expertise
* BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering or a related degree plus 6+ years of relevant postgraduate experience; ideally Chartered or Incorporated with a professional body (e.g., ICE).
* Demonstrable ability to lead in the production of residential or general infrastructure development schemes, including highways, drainage, levels and plot engineering; experience in taking a holistic lead on major projects and managing/judging workload for junior team members.
* Ability to design using guidance such as Manual for Streets, Design and Construction Guidance, CIRIA SuDS Manual, Sewerage Sector Guidance, Building Regulations, and Local Authority design standards.
* Ability to prepare drawings and calculations for private and adoptable arrangements; experience with watercourse consent and approvals related to S104 and S38.
* Numerate and software literate with AutoCAD, Civils3D or similar; experience with drainage modelling software such as Causeway Flow or similar.
* Experience in contract management (financials, programme and resourcing) and client/external-facing roles.
* Consultancy/private sector development background with a pragmatic approach; understanding of residential development from concept to construction.
* Effective organisational and communication skills with a collaborative approach.
* A full driving licence and access to a car.
