Overview
The remit of the post holder will be to work within the multi-disciplinary team providing and further developing care for patients within the service. In addition, the individual will be required to play an active role in the general workload of the Care Group while having a significant commitment to teaching and training of junior staff.
Main duties
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to gain experience of working in a large tertiary critical care department under the mentorship of consultants with a range of tertiary hospital sub specialist interests (including, but not limited to: major trauma; neurology and neurosurgery; cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery; haematology including haemoncology).

Job responsibilities
Doctors appointed to our ICF posts come with diverse levels of prior experience and expertise. We have a number of rotas in which we can accommodate doctors, ranging from purely in facing rotas, where all work is within the ICU, to out facing roles which involve providing critical care support to patients in the emergency department and wards.

* Full registration with GMC/GDC with License to Practice at time of appointment
* Registerable medical qualification

* MRCP or equivalent
* Other higher degree or diploma (eg. MD)
Training and Experience
* Essential: At least 1 year of working within critical care OR 6 months working within critical care and 3 years working within an acute medical specialty (anaesthesia, emergency medicine, acute medicine, internal medicine specialties)

* Evidence of special commitment to critical care
* Demonstrable research and teaching experience
* Experience of working within the NHS
Personal skills and attributes
* Essential: Effective communicator, able to work in a close-knit team and co-operate with all medical and paramedical staff.
