The Royal Oldham Hospital Mortuary Department is a newly built and innovatively designed mortuary providing comprehensive Mortuary and Post-mortem Services to the four hospitals of the Trust, Community deaths for the Manchester North Coroner, Forensic services for the Greater Manchester Coroners, and the Home Office.
The Salford Royal Hospital Mortuary Department is similarly a newly built, innovatively designed mortuary offering comprehensive Mortuary and Post-mortem Services for Salford Royal Hospital and the Salford community deaths for the Bolton Coroner, as well as Neurology postmortem services for the Greater Manchester Coroners and the Home Office.
Both departments are HTA licensed and UKAS accredited.
You will act as a Mortuary Assistant, providing continuous and comprehensive Mortuary Services within the Trust Mortuaries. Your role involves assisting in the day-to-day delivery of a high-quality, cost-effective Mortuary Service and contributing to service development in line with organizational objectives.
You will work under the indirect supervision of the Mortuary Manager and as part of a team across all specialties of the Mortuary, rotating between sites. Responsibilities include receipt and release of bodies, dealing with bereaved relatives, facilitating viewings, general cleaning duties, and stock control, among others.
