Scrub Practitioner – Emergency & Vascular Surgery
Service: Multi‑Speciality Theatres | 24/7 Service Provision (Including Nights, Weekends & Bank Holidays)
Location: UHD Royal Bournemouth Hospital, Castle Lane East, Bournemouth, BH7 7DW.
Responsibilities
* Provide high‑quality scrub support across emergency surgery in multiple specialties, ensuring safe and effective patient care.
* Work within a 24‑hour, 7‑day theatre service, including night shifts, weekend rotas and bank holiday coverage.
* Collaborate with surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses and wider teams to ensure seamless, patient‑centred care.
* Demonstrate clinical competence, adaptability and a commitment to continuous improvement.
* Execute and support surgical practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with acute or emergency scrub experience.
Qualifications & Experience
* NMC registered Nurse (Advanced Diploma/Degree in Adult Health Nursing) or HCPC registered ODP (Dip (HE) Operating Department Practice).
* Experience of working within UK guidance, regulations and procedures.
* Leadership ability to work in scrub.
* Relevant experience in scrub working in emergency surgery.
* Experience in managing unpredictable workloads and working unsupervised.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
* Working knowledge of basic operating department routine and surgical specialties undertaken.
* Understanding of the surgical patient pathway through the hospital.
* Strong communication within the MDT.
