Executive Support Officer, OPCC
Are you looking for an exciting role in a busy political office with the reward of contributing to making Devon and Cornwall a safer place to live?
The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner is looking for new Executive Support Officers to join our small but dynamic team based at Middlemoor Police HQ.
What is the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner?
We are a small team supporting the Police and Crime Commissioner for Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly in their duties. The Police and Crime Commissioner is an elected position, whose role is to be the voice of the people in policing, and to hold the Chief Constable to account for how they discharge their functions. We work with the largest geographical police force area in the country to make our area safer for the million residents of Devon and Cornwall that the Commissioner represents.
The OPCC works with numerous partners including central government, local authorities and the charity sector. Our people have gone on to hold significant and influential national roles and we support our staff with training and guidance to achieve their career aspirations.
What is the role?
Our Executive Support Officers are core team members who support and enable the Commissioner, the Executive Team and the wider office on a day to day basis. Your role will be varied, with direct access to the Commissioner and the senior team in a busy office environment. Alongside general administrative support including diary management, correspondence and minute taking, you will be involved in project management, governance, communications, public engagement and more. No two days are the same in our office!
Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for an enthusiastic team player with excellent organisation skills, a good communicator with an eye for detail. You will need to be flexible to change and able to manage a complex workload in a fast paced environment.
This role would suit someone with a strong interest in politics, public service, policing and the criminal justice system and offers an exciting opportunity to develop knowledge and experience across these and other relevant policy areas.
If you have administrative experience, a background in politics or policing and want to further develop your skills in planning and organising, problem-solving and influencing then we want to hear from you.
If you are unsure if you meet the criteria for this position but are passionate about the role, we encourage you to get in touch. We want the right person with the right attitude and drive, and you may well be that person.
To apply for this role please send a personal statement of no more than 1,000 words showing how you meet the criteria along with your CV.
