Support Worker
Salary: £12.80 per hour
Reporting to: Deputy Manager
Location: Derry / Londonderry
Contract: Fixed-term contract (2 years). This post is supported by the GF Trust.
Hours: Full-time position available. Part-time role (ideally 16 hours per week) with flexible hours, suitable for candidates on benefits linked to working hours.
Scope of Responsibility
Overseeing the development and coordination of a Homeless Health Peer Advocate project (HHPA).
Key Areas of Responsibility
1. Service user focus:
o Be the first point of contact for service users, agencies, contractors, visitors, etc., ensuring a warm, professional, welcoming, and engaging relationship.
o Meet the practical needs of service users daily.
o Maintain accurate records of service users.
o Provide colleagues with timely and accurate communication regarding service users.
o Assist case workers in meeting the needs of service users according to support and safety plans, supporting personal goals through activities such as financial, creative, or educational support.
2. Health & Safety:
o Ensure health and safety standards are met in line with policies and procedures.
o Undertake cleaning duties as assigned, following health & safety practices.
o Complete and record all health & wellbeing and building checks as per procedures.
o Adhere to risk assessments and safety standards within the project.
3. Administration & Record Keeping:
o Handle project administration tasks such as petty cash, statistics, invoices, record keeping, and incident reports.
o Remain vigilant to IT and cyber risks, complying with IT security policies.
4. Other Duties:
o Participate in team activities, including handovers, meetings, training, mentoring volunteers, and supporting team members.
o Maintain professionalism and high work standards aligned with Depaul’s values and ethos.

Person Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
* Lived experience of homelessness and/or addictions, including experience working with a family member or relative with addictions.
* 3 GCSEs A-C, including Maths and English, or equivalent.
* At least 1 year paid relevant work experience or 2 years volunteering experience.
Skills
* Good knowledge of risk assessment and management.
* Proficient IT skills, including client information management systems.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to compile and present reports accurately.
Knowledge
* Understanding of homelessness issues and support services.
* Knowledge of statutory and voluntary sector resources.
* Awareness of health and safety standards in service delivery.
* Familiarity with relevant agencies and networking skills.
* Willingness to work in line with Depaul’s vision, mission, and values.
Circumstances
* Ability to work on a rota basis, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and nights.
* Must have access to a car and a full, clean driving license.
* This position requires an Enhanced Access NI check. Having a criminal record does not necessarily disqualify applicants.
* Must have or obtain NISCC registration within the probation period.
