Effluent Treatment Plant Operative Artigarvan Lakeland Dairies Co-operative Society Limited (The Group) is the second largest dairy processor on the island of Ireland. The Groups Agribusiness Division (Lakeland Agri) operates a state-of-the-art Animal Feed Manufacturing Facility and is a leading and innovative provider of the highest quality feeds and agricultural inputs to dairy, beef and sheep farmers across the north and south of Ireland. TheRole Our Effluent Treatment Plant Operators are responsible for running, monitoring, and maintaining the treatment systems that handle wastewater from our dairy processing, ensuring compliance with environmental standards, and keeping our plant safe and efficient. These key roles work on a continental shift pattern covering both day and night shift. Key responsibilities will include (Not limited too): Flow management: Adjust valves and pumps to control wastewater flow rates depending on production levels Process control : Monitor dissolved oxygen, sludge levels, and hydraulic loading to keep biological treatment stable. Alarm response: Act immediately to alarms (e.g., pump failure, high tank levels) to prevent spills or environmental breaches. PPE use: Wear protective gear (safety boots, hi-vis, safety glasses, and respirators when required) when handling chemicals or sludge. Confined space safety : Follow strict entry procedures for tanks or pits. Preventive maintenance: Lubricate pumps, clean screens, check aerators, and replace worn seals. Minor repairs: Fix leaks, unblock pipes, or replace faulty sensors. Shift logs : Record flow rates, chemical usage, test results and any incidents. Sampling : Collect water and sludge samples. What do I need to be successful in this role? The ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good communication and problem-solving skills. A self-starter with the ability to complete manual work including lifting, bending and stretching when required. Strong attention to detail. Relevant experience from within a food manufacturing environment, and/or Effluent Treatment Plant would be advantageous.
