I'm delighted to be supporting a well-established 5-bed mixed gender children's residential home in Dunmow in their search for dedicated and compassionate Support Workers.
The service supports children and young people aged 8-18 with learning disabilities, providing a safe, nurturing, and structured environment where every young person is encouraged to thrive and reach their full potential. No previous experience is required - just the right values, commitment, and willingness to learn.
👶 The Role
As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in the daily lives of the children by:
Providing high-quality, child-centred care and support
Assisting with personal care, education, social development, and daily routines
Promoting independence, emotional wellbeing, and positive behaviour
Supporting children to access community activities and outings
Maintaining accurate records and following safeguarding procedures
Working closely as part of a supportive, professional team
Shift Pattern:
Two days: 7:30am - 10:00pm
One day: 2:30pm - 10:00pm
Shifts are worked on a rota basis, including weekends
Overtime available
✅ Essential Requirements
Minimum age of 22
Full manual UK driving licence held for at least 2 years
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply)
Right to work in the UK
Flexible and reliable with shift patterns
Strong communication skills and a genuine passion for working with children
A clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
🎓 Desirable (but not essential)
Willingness to work towards a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare
An interest in learning about autism, sensory needs, and positive behaviour support
