Buyer; Samlesbury, Nr Blackburn; 12-month contract; £29.00PH PAYE; Inside IR35 We currently have a requirement for an experienced buyer working with a defence client, to support multiple projects across 2 sites. The role sits within an Indirect Procurement team and the successful candidate will be required to manage the end-to-end procurement process of Manufacturing Equipment projects. Typically, this will require the buyer to work with multiple stakeholders including engineers, budget holders, SMEs, external suppliers, contractors and consultancies to devise and execute a suitable procurement strategy & implement contractual terms. The role will provide you with fantastic opportunities to support project delivery, primarily within a particular business area, covering all platforms, manufacturing areas and sites. You will also be at the forefront of supporting business winning campaigns and new manufacturing / technology initiatives This role will have a hybrid working pattern with 3 days site attendance required. Roles & responsibilities will include: Own, influence and liaise with key stakeholders to determine their requirements Create procurement strategies and contracting routes Lead the process to prepare and issue pre-qualification & RFP documents Develop assessment criteria to be utilised to select the successful bid Lead tender reviews with multiple functions to determine the most suitable supplier Prepare contract documents Actively identify and deliver savings Where required undertake visits to assess potential suppliers Have a continuous improvement mindset The Successful Applicant: To be considered for this role you will be a buyer/senior buyer with a track record of developing, implementing & managing procurement strategies, ideally relating to Manufacturing Equipment projects. Skills Required: Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills Contract skills, including contract negotiation Supplier Management Experience Required: Experience working in a similar position or a related degree Experience within construction and/or manufacturing equipment categories Strong negotiation and communication skills Ability to work under pressure, whilst ensuring deadlines are met Experience with Word and Excel software Comfortable in a fast-paced commercial environment 5 years’ experience in a procurement/supply chain role Additional attributes Personable and Professional Demeanour, Excellent Written and Oral Communication Skills, Data Analysis, Excellent Organisational Skills, Good Business Instincts, Mathematics Skills, Understanding of Supply Chain Management Procedures, Strategic Planning Abilities, Accreditation by the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS).
